Theatre MSU brings Shakespeare classic ‘Macbeth’ to campus next week

Mississippi State’s Theatre MSU next week presents a Shakespeare classic for its final production of the year. “Macbeth,” set during 11th century Scotland, opens Wednesday [Feb. 22] and continues Friday-Saturday [Feb. 24-25] at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday [Feb. 26] at 2:30 p.m. on McComas Hall’s main stage. A special performance for school audiences also is planned.

Mississippi State University's Department of Communication Head Dr. Terry Likes interviews Theatre MSU senior, Corin Davis. The discussion includes February’s production of MacBeth, for which he plays the lead. Also, his award-winning work as a designer, theatre conferences, Lab Rats (the improv comedy group), how one gets involved with the Theatre Honor Society (Alpha Psi Omega) along with theatre’s emphasis on plays involving social injustice and theatre’s mission in serving youth audiences.

Allyn Wamble

Allyn Wamble received her Bachelor of Arts in communication with a concentration in theatre in 2015 from Mississippi State University. Wamble grew up in West Point, Miss., and after receiving her degree, she moved to New York City to work as a casting associate at Grant Wilfley Casting in Manhattan.

David Hintz

David Hintz is a sophomore communication major from Columbus, Miss., majoring in communication with concentrations in theatre and broadcast & digital journalism. Hintz is involved in Lab Rats Comedy, Mens Club Lacrosse, Theatre MSU, Alpha Psi Omega, Blackfriars Drama Society, Baptist Student Union and serves as a short form director for Lab Rats Comedy. In the future, Hintz would love to work in technical or educational theatre.

Jade Keaton

Jade Keaton is a senior communication major from Tupelo majoring in communication with a concentration in theatre. Keaton is involved in Theatre MSU serving as stage manager, assistant stage manager or assistant director. Keaton also serves as the business manager of Alpha Psi Omega and is a member of the Blackfriars Drama Society and The Scene. After graduation, Keaton plans to obtain an MFA in stage management with the hopes of becoming a professional stage manager in a theatre environment.
