Communication and Media Studies student Sarah Rendon presented research at the MSU Undergraduate Research Symposium on community-engaged learning. Her work, "Examining Student Perceptions of Community Engaged Learning through Reflection," was supervised by Dr. Holli Seitz and was recognized as the Social Sciences Category Winner in the Community-Engaged Research Track.

Freshman Mia C. Robertson, a political science major from Starkville, was named overall-long national champion in her International Public Debate Association division out of 305 qualified debaters from 84 schools.

Reflector journalists win national website and news awards

Brandon Grisham and the Reflector won the Grand Prize for best website and Mary Mad LaMastus won the Grand Prize for best web news article at the 57th Annual National Electronic Media Association awards in Los Angeles.

MSU students garner regional, national journalism awards

The Reflector staff took several top awards at the conference, including for general news reporting, sports photography, and commentary. In all, the Reflector won seven first place awards and 16 second and third place awards.

Two Theatre students advance in short film competition

Every Little Thing, a short film created by Nathan Cleveland and Emma Denson was recently chosen as one of four films to move on to the next round of short-film competition in Hollywood. The short film debuted in the Campus Movie Fest at MSU where Cleveland also received the Silver Tripod for Best Actor.
