Taylor Barr

Taylor Barr

Taylor Barr is a senior communication major from Marietta, Ga. majoring in communication with a concentration in theatre and math. Barr is involved in Lab Rats Comedy, WMSV, and props for Theatre MSU’s production of “Macbeth”. He is also the founder of The Midnight Bizarre and serves as president of the Blackfriars Drama Society. Barr plans to one day to work on designing at Cortland Repertory Theatre in Cortland, New York, or become a playwright, director, designer, or actor. 

Barr was nominated by his professor, Jesse Wade, who said, “Taylor approaches theatre with a voracity rarely seen in a student. He continues to take on challenging projects, committing wholeheartedly to seeing them through. I have every confidence that his dedication will carry him far.”

Why did you choose communication?
I chose theatre because it's fun!

Best memory in the Department?
Writing, producing, and directing “Coyote”.

Advice for incoming communication students?
If you're interested in something, push to be a part of it. You have to make anything happen.

Best advice you’ve received from a professor?
Take the job.

Favorite class?
Playwrighting.

If you were singing karaoke, what song would you pick to sing?
“I Will Survive” by Gloria Gayno

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life what would it be?
Burger

What’s the most interesting thing that you’ve read, watched, or listened to lately?
“Aniara” the movie, opera, or poem.

If you didn’t have to sleep, what would you do with that extra time?
Write more plays.
