At the National Electronic Media Association competition in April, MSU Communication Instructor Victoria Helena Bailey won 1st place for a news report, and Bailey and Josh Foreman, a communication instructor, won 1st place in the production ‘other’ category.

Heather Harrison

Heather Harrison is a senior communication major from Hazlehurst, Miss., majoring in communication with concentrations in broadcast & digital journalism and public relations. Harrison was previously involved with the Speech and Debate Council and is currently involved with The Reflector. In the future, Harrison plans to move to New York and pursue her career in Print Journalism.

Communication professor and students win MAB awards

At the Mississippi Association of Broadcasters awards in April, MSU students won more honors in radio and television than any other college or university in the state, and for the third year in a row, MSU won both the Radio Student Broadcaster of the Year (Jackson Smith) and TV Student Broadcaster of the Year (Eli Thurman).

Moriah Norman

Moriah Norman is junior a communication major from McDonough, Ga., majoring in communication and a concentration in broadcast and digital journalism. Norman is involved in the Broadcast Education Association and Black Student Association. In the future, she plans to work at a news station as a sports reporter and work her way up from there.

Brandon Roten

Brandon Adam Roten received his Bachelor of Arts in communication with a concentration in broadcasting in 2003 from Mississippi State University. Roten grew up in Olive Branch, Miss., and after receiving his degree, he moved to Hernando, Miss., where he works as a freelance editor with clients across the country.

Eli Thurman

Eli Thurman is a senior communication major from Madison, Miss., majoring in communication with concentration in broadcast & digital journalism. Thurman is involved in Roadrunners and Hail State Productions. In the future, he hopes to stay in the production world and combine that with ministry. He loves all things lighting and sound and wants to use his gifts to impact students and show them what it's like to have a personal relationship with Jesus.

Victoria Bailey

Victoria Bailey is a native of Sylacauga, Ala., and has been a part of MSU’s Department of Communication for a little over a year. Bailey received a BS in broadcast journalism and an MS in strategic communication at Troy University. At MSU, Bailey teaches Backpack Video Journalism, Broadcast Capstone and News Writing for the Electronic Media.

Elizabeth Keen, a junior from Vicksburg, Miss., is majoring in communication with a concentration in broadcast and digital journalism. Keen is involved in the Shackhouls Honors College and The Reflector. In the future, Keen plans to work as a sports broadcaster or a journalist.
