Creative Media Production

Curriculum Guide (Prior to Fall 2026+ Entry)
Technology Requirements

Creative Media Production prepares students to create compelling visual stories across film, digital media, and emerging production platforms. The program develops a strong foundation in writing, visual storytelling, cinematography, editing, and collaborative production, equipping students with the creative and technical skills needed to bring original ideas to life.

Students learn the full production process from concept to final delivery. Early experiences introduce them to filmmaking terminology, camera operation, and non‑linear editing, including “techniques involving the use of smartphones and video‑capturing applications, along with non-linear editing software for post-production”. As they advance, students deepen their skills in screenwriting, client‑based production, motion graphics, lighting, and visual design. The curriculum emphasizes hands‑on practice, creative problem‑solving, and industry‑standard workflows.

The program culminates in a two‑part capstone experience in which students develop, write, and produce original short films. In the first phase, students “pitch, develop, and write scripts for 15‑minute films,” applying the pre‑production tools used by producers, directors, and cinematographers. In the second phase, they move into full production and post‑production, exploring the aesthetic and professional processes of filmmaking, including marketing and distribution.

Graduates of Creative Media Production are prepared for careers in filmmaking, cinematography, editing, screenwriting, digital content creation, and a wide range of creative media industries. The program’s emphasis on practical experience and professional‑level production equips students with the skills and confidence needed to succeed in today’s competitive media landscape.
