Karley Woods
by Abby Zupa, student PR intern
Karley Woods, a Florence native, is a senior Communication major with a concentration in Print & Digital Journalism. Woods currently serves as an intern in the College of Arts & Sciences where she works as the social media coordinator. This past summer, she interned with Gulf Shore Life Media in Bonita Springs, Florida, working under their head of Digital Marketing and Event coordination. Woods’ favorite guilty pleasure show is Criminal Minds, and the best advice she has ever received from a professor is to “own your own behavior.”
What's your dream job? I would love to be a travel photographer and have my creative writings published.
Favorite place on MSU's campus? The Chapel of Memories
Favorite Starkville restaurant? Arepas
Do you drink coffee? If so, what is your coffee order? I can’t live without coffee! My go-to Starbucks order is a Venti Iced Shaken Espresso with oat milk, three pumps of sugar-free vanilla, two pumps of chai, no classic syrup, and three shots of espresso. Don’t judge...it’s one of the few things I let myself indulge in, haha.
Favorite class so far? I really enjoyed taking Intro to Theology with Albert Bisson. My favorite communications-related class so far is Journalism Ethics with Dr. Phillip Poe, which I am currently enrolled in.
Why did you choose communication? I was originally a marketing major in the College of Business. I was in need of something more intimate. I've always loved writing and photography. As I explored other majors, I noticed that photo and TV classes were incorporated into the communication curriculum. I was instantly drawn to the Print & Digital Journalism concentration.
