Josh Foreman, an instructor in print & digital journalism, and his co-author, Ryan Starrett, spoke during "Literature at Lunch" at the Natchez Literary and Cinema Celebration. They told the story of John Blommart, who was a retired Royal Navy captain who settled in Natchez in the late 1700s. He ended up fighting off an American assault during the Revolutionary War. A couple years later, after the Spanish had captured Natchez, he recaptured the city using an army of British loyalists and Choctaw warriors.

According to Lawrence, managing in a crisis is challenging--even for experienced managers. Her presentation focused on understanding the fundamentals of successfully leading through a crisis, outlining key character traits of successful leaders, identifying crisis management stages, and reviewing John C. Maxwell's seven guiding principles for leading through a crisis.
