Anne Marie Lundy is a senior communication major from Jackson, Miss., majoring in communication with a concentration in public relations. Lundy serves as an ambassador for the TK Martin Center, is a member of Kappa Delta sorority and a student worker for the Office of the Mississippi State President. Lundy is currently studying for the Law School Admissions Test and hopes to start law school in the fall of 2023. After finishing law school, she hopes to move to Washington to work toward benefitting the state of Mississippi.

Lundy was nominated by her professor Meaghan Gordon, who said, “Anne Marie isn't afraid to put herself out there. From studying abroad to working in DC, she is using her time at MSU to expand her world and learn from new experiences.”

Why communication?
One thing I love to do is talk, which is why I originally chose to study communication in college. I thought it would be beneficial to take a skill I already liked and learn how to do it effectively. I quickly learned that communication is a whole lot more than just talking, but I truly think it is one of the most important things to study and will benefit you in many aspects of your life.

Best memory in the Department?
My best memory in the Department of Communication was walking around on the drill field all day with a camera and a tripod trying to find people to film for my TV Production class.

Advice for incoming communication students?
Get to know your classmates and professors! Everyone I've met in this major is so friendly and genuine. You never know who might end up being your very best friend. Also, do not be afraid of public speaking class! It might be intimidating at first, but the professors will guide you through it. It might even end up being your favorite class.

Best advice you’ve received from a professor?
In interviewing class, Dr. Lindley always reminded us to be ourselves. Often in an interview setting, you think you should pretend to be someone you are not just to try and impress people. He taught us how important it is to be yourself in this situation, and if the job isn't right for you that's okay. It just means there is another one out there for you.

Favorite class?
Interviewing with the legendary Dr. Lindley. I have loved all my classes, but this is hands down my favorite. Not only was it the most fun I have ever had in a class, but it was also one of the most beneficial classes I have taken.

If you were singing karaoke, what song would you pick to sing?
I would pick anything from the Mamma Mia soundtrack. I can't choose just one because I love them all and know the words to every song.

If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
My grandmother's Thanksgiving dressing! I wait all year long for it, and I could eat it every single day.

What’s the most interesting thing that you’ve read, watched or listened to lately?
Mrs. Blount's PR production class lecture on logos. I had no idea how much went into the design of a company's logo. My roommates and I are still talking about how interesting it is.

If you didn’t have to sleep, what would you do with that extra time?
I would spend as much time with my family and friends as possible. I feel like we get so busy with our everyday lives that we tend to forget to sit back and enjoy just being around the people we love.
