Theatre MSU is bringing a double dose of Halloween entertainment to Mississippi State this fall with a spooky fundraiser and a cult-classic performance of “Night of the Living Dead.”

Campbell named PRAM Student of the Year

Mississippi State spring summa cum laude communication graduate Rileigh Campbell of Caledonia is the Public Relations Association of Mississippi’s Student of the Year. Chosen for the honor based on her academic achievements, public relations experience and involvement on campus and in the community, Campbell’s selection was announced during the organization’s recent annual conference in Biloxi.

Mississippi State University’s newly renamed Department of Communication, Media and Theatre is now nationally accredited by the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communications for its undergraduate programs in broadcast and digital journalism, public relations and print and digital journalism.

Hernandez receives MSU Excellence in Advising Award

Dr. Terri Hernandez, a professor in Public Relations, was named the 2025 faculty recipient of the Irvin Atly Jefcoat Excellence in Advising Award. Hernandez was evaluated on effective advising practices, including availability to advisees, meeting advisees in informal settings, perception by colleagues of nominee's advising skills, evidence of student success in the academic arena, frequency of contact with advisees, mastery of institutional regulations, policies, and procedures, monitoring of student progress toward academic and career goals, among other qualities.

Department honors Williams, Rudrow, Gordon, Edmonds with annual awards

The Department of Communication at Mississippi State University recently announced the winners of faculty awards for 2025 recognizing excellence in teaching, research and service as well as outstanding lecturer. During the department end-of-year award ceremony in April Kevin Williams, Keven Rudrow, Meaghan Gordon and Khristi Edmonds were honored for their contributions to the department.
