Terry Likes, head of Mississippi State’s Department of Communication, is the winner of the national 2024 Broadcast Historian Award from the Library of American Broadcasting’s Foundation, in conjunction with the Broadcast Education Association.

Mississippi State Bulldogs claim debate national title after building championship program

For the first time, the Mississippi State Bulldogs are national champions of collegiate debate. The MSU Debate Team claimed top honors at the April 2024 International Public Debate Association National Tournament. In another first, MSU also served as the tournament host, with 50 colleges and universities making their way to Starkville to compete for national titles.

MSU students win top honors at Mississippi Press Association conference

MSU student-journalists won top awards at the 2024 Mississippi Press Association Better News/Media Conference in Ridgeland this spring. The Reflector, MSU's student newspaper, won the overall General Excellence award for the fourth year in a row.

Sarah DeLappe’s award-winning “The Wolves”—a Pulitzer Prize finalist script depicting young women of a high school soccer team as they gather weekly for practice—is presented on the McComas Hall main stage Feb. 28-March 2.

MSU ‘Story State’ contest seeks emerging Mississippi storytellers

Mississippi State University’s Story State 2024 —an annual contest aimed at sharing Mississippi stories—is open for entries for new and original written, oral or filmed stories. The competition is open to all students enrolled at a Mississippi institution of higher learning, with entries accepted through March 21.

Hays receives community engagement award

Mississippi State is honoring eight outreach projects with the university’s sixth annual Excellence in Community Engagement Awards. Winners, awarded in four categories for 2023, include community-engaged research, service, and teaching and learning, and scholarship of engagement.
